Great Ocean Road

Ian's parents were down for 3 weeks. We have to say – thanks for doing so much cooking and laundry while you were here! It was nice having warm good food on the table when we got home from work ;) The highlight of their trip was a wedding followed by a short trip to the Great Ocean Road. So, here goes: ^ We were at Mount Dandenong for a wedding at Poet's Lane – just across the road from our own wedding a year ish ago! ^ ^ Ian's birthday lunch the next day at Wild Oak at Mt Dandenong. That's an antipesto mix. ^ ^ And this. Is. The most amazing risotto ever. Not kidding. It has mushrooms, for one. ^ ^ Started our drive towards the Great Ocean Road. Saw many huge yellow fields – I think they were little flowers. ^ ^ Stopped by this winery – used to be The Hill Winery – but has recently changed owners. Picked it just because it looked impressive and like it might have lunch. ^ ^ This was really good calamari

She cooked and he baked

These were made on different days.  The pie was on a day we had leftover stew. I popped it in a bowl with some store-bought pastry layered around it, and baked it. Decided to have some fun with it and do a "F < 3 I". Easy and fun! The dark brown parts are where the egg yolk sunk in more.  The red velvet cupcakes were on a day I came home later and Ian had dinner all ready, plus pretty cupcakes to boot! There was some oozy yummy custard in the middle. We had cupcakes for dessert for three nights after that.  People think it's usually the girl who bakes. But hah! Not in our house.

A few things from our old house

The view since we were atop a hill,  the sunlight streaming in,  the familiarity of seeing it and knowing you're home.  These were a few of my favourite things.
