Stepping out - speaking up in class

Image
For today's tutorial we broke up into groups for discussion. When it was my group's turn to share with the class, the usually vocal guy answered the first part. Then asked if someone else would like to answer the second part, and looked at me - you? O_o Okay so I answered it. And I mentioned Xiaxue in my answer :D Hahaha. And I could feel my neck and face was all hot as I answered. So I suppose my face was red. I was glad I was kind of "forced" to answer because it made me speak up in class (which is rare). Last Friday, too - I made an announcement at OCF and could feel my neck warming up; face must have been red. Yargh! But it's good. Because it's called "stepping out of my comfort zone". I don't want to just look there; I want to be there. And even if I don't do it to the best it can be, I did my best. And it may seem small, but stepping out of one's comfort zone is kind of like an adventure. It's fun! On hindsight, at least. And t

Lessons from the wind

Image
Wind wind, why are you rushing so? Are you late for something? Where do you want to go? Yes the days have had visitations from fierce wind. The tree leaves rustling against each other sound like waves . Today everyone in school was advised to leave for home by 4pm; apparently the big sweep (whoohoo lottery! ha ha. k sorry) will be from about 5-7pm. I meet a friend on the way home and we chat before splitting ways. I keep my jacket hood on so my hair does not get in my face and I stay warmer. The wind catches it, blowing it off. Before I can properly put it back on, the wind catches it and pulls it off again. Oh bother; just keep it off – it's fun! The wind can whip and howl and blow wherever it pleases. I am still on my feet. Sometimes it blows my way, pushing my next two or three steps faster; other times it blows against me – I steadily plow through. The cold does not get me anymore – I am used to it, and am in fact enjoying it. I'm smiling. I start to sing – Thank You Jesus

God-Encounters (From The Vine)

God-Encounters "They... went through the towns, preaching..." –Luke 9:6 (NKJV) One night a man walking to church saw four boys hanging out on a street corner, so he invited them to go with him. They did, and they went back again the following Sunday. Actually, these four boys became the nucleus of the Sunday school class he began to teach. Years later his friends decided to contact the four boys, see what had happened to them, and invite each to write a special birthday letter to be read at a surprise party for their old teacher. Their letters were real eye openers. One boy had become a missionary to China, one was president of the US Federal Reserve Bank, one was the private secretary to President Herbert Hoover, and the fourth was - President Hoover himself. Sometimes your small encounters are God-encounters that take place when you're busy with other things or on your way to somewhere else. If you're not prepared you'll miss a real blessing, a chance to grow an

Hello folks, pardon the lack of updates due to busyness. But here's a brief post :) Afternoon out with Dawnsa - always well-spent time; and as usual, in the city. Happy Birthday Stone at Pancake Parlour Where there were nice Father's Day promo material And Pancake Parlour for the second time that night because Bryan's leaving for SG for good on Mon :/ Also, drove up to Anglesea today to join in for part of OCF Caulfield's Winter Camp. A view from part of the way there, and the very quaint hall which was a redecorated barn - so gypsy-like! As usual, my pictures may not be very representative of what went on. But they are the pictures I like best :) -- Love Beyond Reason John Ortberg The miracle of the touch is that Jesus was willing to share another person’s suffering in order to bring about healing... For God’s shop is full of signs that say please touch. We may not want to. We are afraid or shy or busy. But it is only when pe

You see the depths of my heart (song)

You see the depths of my heart You calm the raging sea You still the crashing oceans You fill me with peace You are the faithful one I stand secure in You Knowing that I'll always be In the shadow of Your wings You draw me in with Your outstretched arms You lead me by Your Spirit I look to the Lord of my salvation Strength will rise as I wait upon the Lord There is nothing hidden from Your sight There is no one who compares to You There is nothing that You cannot do All that I am lives for You -- Written August 2008, after thinking about earlier in the day when a friend had shared about something she was going through. Can ask me for the raw recording of the song if you want. More at Overflow .
