The life you've always wanted + keeping clean

The life you've always wanted John Ortberg On the way to Mount Moriah, Abraham takes Isaac and leaves the servants behind, telling them, “We will return.” Why does he say “we”? Does he want to mislead them or hide what he’s really doing? (We know he has lied before.) Does he think that maybe at the last minute he won’t be able to go through it, that it is too horrible to contemplate? Does he think somehow that in spite of it all, God’s promise will yet come true – “It is through Isaac that offspring shall be named for you”? We don’t know. We do know that even when he doesn’t fully understand, Abraham obeys God. Having faith does not mean never having doubts or questions. It does mean remaining obedient. Abraham does not have perfect faith. He just hangs on. He places himself in God’s hands. He just keeps running. - He's too good for us. But He's here to dwell with us, in us, anyway. Better keep your temple as clean as possible. Don't let there be dirt (sin) or dust (neg

Melb update - Monash, City, Home

This is going to be a majorly long post. So have fun reading/looking at the pictures if you last all the way. Like I said, I bother to go to much detail is more for my family. Well, school starts next week - don't think I'll have time to post like that anymore! Oh yea - hi family. I dreamt that I was back in Singapore with Siew, Mei, Wei :D < 3 - Like I've mentioned, I'm seriously really blessed here. Aunty Lucia and Uncle Oliver bought me a shelf! After laying out my things, I wondered how I fit all the stuff in my room into my 32kg check-in luggage and 10kg hand-carry. This is part of Aunty Lucia's garden. When you look closely, you'll notice the little funny creatures - a gnome, a turtle, a few angels here and there etc. Quite amusing. Aunt Lucia also grows some vegetables, which I have been nourished by. Tomatoes, a few corn, chillis, lemons, zucchini, and a few others. Her zucchini is good stuff man. She gave Ida one and she and Ivy were so amazed by it.

Hello. I went to the city on Friday with Ida, to meet Joel (and visit the mac shop). Am still not in the habit of taking pictures, so I only remembered to whip out my camera halfway. To get to the city, it's walk > bus > train and public transport is more expensive, as compared to Singapore, so don't think I'll be visiting the city often. We went to the market... Okay I know you can see such stuff in Singapore too. But um yea :D And a lot of us don't go to the wet market yes? And they have biiiig fruits here. Aunty Lucia grows vegetables! Like tomatoes and zucchini. That fish in the picture has got BIG eyes. Some of the stores have logos! So that was quite interesting. It's nice to see Avenir and some good typography around as well. We visited Joel's place. Joel cooked dinner, and I helped do some chopping - learn how to cook :P So far here, I've only cooked an egg, and egg with mashed tofu, mixed with soya sauce (an experiment with Ida). Watched Seinf

The life you've always wanted + be my best friend

The life you've always wanted John Ortberg Sin is usually tied to some need or another. Indeed, sin is often the attempt to meet a legitimate need in an illegitimate way. If we don’t address that need in appropriate ways, we will go right on sinning. It may be that we need to learn to experience the love of God more fully so we can be liberated from petty jealousy that makes gossiping almost irresistible. When the heart is well-ordered, we are not only increasingly free from sin, but also increasingly free from the desire to sin. - hello Jesus, be my best friend.

Ida's house has a keyboard

Hello hello! Ida's house has a nice Roland full-sized keyboard!!!!! So today we walked to Clayton uh town or whatever it's called - it's the equivalent of eg, Ang Mo Kio central sort of thing. And bought groceries. They have loads of Asian foodstuff. Ida cooked dinner (I cooked the egg - what else do I cook? -_- ) and we had her friend over for dinner. After that, we jammed! Yay. Her friend on the guitar, and me on the keyboards! YAY! Okay very happy cos I was afraid I'd miss my musical instruments, so I wanted to bring my guitar but couldn't cos too heavy ha ha HA. yesa. I love my hairdryer cos well, the hot air from it is good for when I'm cold. Yay yay yay yay YAY. Okay it's the keyboard. The keyboard made me extra happy. :D

Beginnings at Melbourne

Hello! I shall blog (more for my family, though actually I email them more details) and try to upload more pictures - have to remember to bring my camera out. So here goes... This is my house! Okay well, the plan of my house. Okay actually, the house I live in. The proportions are wrong. It's not very easy to draw cos one, I haven't actually walked round the whole house and two, there are many parts to the house haha. I have my own shelf in the pantry, and I have a shelf in the fridge and freezer too. I've had four free meals. haha. I guess cos I'm new here so Aunty Lucia (landlady) just cooks extra for me too. I feel quite pai seh though :P The room beside mine is an empty guest room. The room opposite mine belongs to Shirley, an Indonesian girl who will be back after the holidays, just before school starts. I've slept well the past two nights - just completely deep sleep. I guess I'm making up for the week before I came to Melbourne when I didn't get much
