Great Ocean Road

Ian's parents were down for 3 weeks. We have to say – thanks for doing so much cooking and laundry while you were here! It was nice having warm good food on the table when we got home from work ;) The highlight of their trip was a wedding followed by a short trip to the Great Ocean Road. So, here goes:

^ We were at Mount Dandenong for a wedding at Poet's Lane – just across the road from our own wedding a year ish ago! ^

^ Ian's birthday lunch the next day at Wild Oak at Mt Dandenong. That's an antipesto mix. ^

^ And this. Is. The most amazing risotto ever. Not kidding. It has mushrooms, for one. ^

^ Started our drive towards the Great Ocean Road. Saw many huge yellow fields – I think they were little flowers. ^

^ Stopped by this winery – used to be The Hill Winery – but has recently changed owners. Picked it just because it looked impressive and like it might have lunch. ^

^ This was really good calamari – tasty and soft without being overly chewy. ^

^ Stayed at Peppers The Sands Torquay which is a nice golf resort. Only a 10 minute walk to the beach which was great. Borrowed DVDs from reception to watch in the room and introduced Ian's parents to our tradition of eating instant noodles during trips, heh. ^

^ Erskine Falls. It's an 80m walk to the top of the falls, and 220m down to the bottom. It's short, but steep; the walk down is fine but walking up can be tiring. The bottom was very refreshing – you couldn't feel the water, but you could feel the freshness of it. ^

^ Spent a night at Whitecrest Resort which overlooks Great Ocean Road. It was spacious and comfy, and equipped with cooking utensils and condiments so we cooked dinner and breakfast. ^

^ Visited Red Rock Volcanic Reserve – super view on a super windy day. Ian says the round marks on the carpark floor below is made by people driving up to drift and whatnot with their cars! ^

^ Lunch at McGlashan's Wallington Estate. They were having some party there. But anyway. Lunch was what you see below. Two huge platters! ^
