Before Breakfast

I shall learn to appreciate the quietness of morning instead of night. It's a simple trade. Same difference :) Rationale: 1. The early morning has less interruptions, so you are able to accomplish more and especially work on your own projects. 2. You have a "quota" of willpower for each day. Doing important things in the morning ensures you use the max of that willpower for the most important things. 3. Having done certain things in the morning means you've cleared it and don't have to worry or think about it or the rest of the day. So, here goes!

I want to constantly be amazed

I do. Don't let me forget. Don't let me get proud. I want to have an attitude of gratitude. Not to be lazy and think I have rights. Instead, to be content. Gratefulness keeps one happy and giving, rather than always taking and thinking we can take take take. I want to be constantly amazed; grateful, in awe (of You).

Inbuilt Standards

What was the purpose of the ten commandments given to Moses? Was it to set a standard of good and bad for man? No. Years back, why did Moses flee Egypt? Because he killed a man. And he was afraid of the consequences- punishment. You see, even before the ten commandments were carved on those two tablets, man already knew what was good and bad. Moses knew murder meant punishment, even without having the commandments to inform him. This shows we do have "inbuilt standards" in us. Or a "conscience" as some call it. It's like how when asked if a man who murdered or stole should go to heaven or not, most people will say he should go to hell because what he did was just plain wrong and caused others harm. Back to the ten commandments. Maybe the ten commandments were given not so much to inform us of guidelines for living as we already kinda knew, but for God to show us more of Himself- God as a jealous, loving God- not like the Israelites' tyrants who

Let people ask questions

Lesson for the day: Speak the main point briefly, let people ask questions. If they don't, they are not interested- so move on to the next question. Ask about their industry. Not interested or don't know much? Ask something general. Eg, what excites you? What do you do outside work? Don't be "chiong hei". It's not about you. It's about them- what are they interested in? (Just offer enough for them to be able to ask the next question) (From tonight's convo with Ian)
