the purpose driven life
day 33
how real servants act
(i like this lesson :))

"you can tell who they are by what they do" - matthew 7:16

Jesus measures in terms of service, not status.

While you may be gifted at a particular task, you may be called to do it if no one gifted is around.
primary ministry : where you're gifted
secondary ministry : where you're needed
(to myself : hmmm. ahhh. uh. ladidum~ ok. like, dotdotdot [hah! bardee! dotdotdot!])

anyone can be a servant :)

1. real servants make themselves available to serve
- do what's needed, even when it's inconvenient
- are you available to God anytime?
- being a servant means giving up the right to control your schedule and allowing God to "interrupt" whenever he needs to
- agenda each day : whatever God wants to bring into my life!

2. real servants pay attention to needs
- when God puts someone in need right in front of you, he is giving you the opportunity to grow in servanthood (the girl at my mom's shop? on sat, my mom told me to be more strict with her. coz i was being too nice. haha. no la. but if not strict then she gets lazy. i am being taught patience too i guess =))
- "do all the good you can,
by all the means you can,
in all the ways you can,
in all the places you can,
at all the times you can,
to all the people you can,
as long as you ever can." - john wesley
- do little things as if they were great things!

3. real servants do the best with what they have
- don't make excuses, procrastinate, or wait for beter circumstances
- don't ever think that you are "not good enough" to serve

4. real servants do every task with equal dedication
- "if you think you are too impt to help someone in need, you are only fooling yourself. you are really a nobody." = gal 6:3
- nothing was beneath Jesus, because he came to serve
- small tasks often show a big heart. no task is beneath you when you have a servants heart :)
- the little things in life determine the big things! be willing to do anything needed :)

5. real servants are faithful to their ministry (hmm)
- servants finish their taks, fulfil their responsibilities, keep their promises, complete thry commitments. they don't leave a job half undone, and they don't quit when they get discouraged. they are trustworthy and dependable.
- can you be counted on by others?
- "well done, my good and faithful servant...." - matthew 25:23 :)
- never retire...

6. real servants maintain low profile
- "put on the apron of humility to serve one another." - 1 peter 5:5
- if recognized for service, humbly accept
- live for the audience of ONE]
- many leaders today start off as servants but end up as celebrities...always being in the spotlight blinds you

God put you where you are for a purpose! you are important! stay where you are till he chooses to move you. (to myself : eh. so...ah. how?)

"throw yourselves ino the work of the master, confident that nothing you do for him is a waste of time or effort" - 1 cor 15:58

the end

discover the joy of giving! "it is better to give than to receive" and i find that pretty true man. coz when you give, well, you feel nice inside :) doesn't have to be smtg big. a lil' card or smtg IS already something :) and giving doesn't mean material kind of giving. there's also the giving of your hearts and lives, to God. that's the kind of giving where i tell you, you will receive the most back in return man. =))))
