Post-exam play

Okay, time to blog. Sorry for the lack of updates. This post is going to be just events, briefly. But many events, so this is a long post.

10 Nov - DFO

After my last exam paper, I met Dawn at Southern Cross DFO and we caught up and shopped. She convinced me to buy peep toe shoes (Joyce says, Good job Dawn!) and my first dress, not counting those my mom bought for me when I was in Kindergarten, and my primary and secondary school pinafores.

Taking pictures like that has been coined Doing the Karen Cheng.

11 Nov - 21st Birthday + Ikea

Some OCFers surprised me before midnight for my birthday. Rachel, Glenda and Ru O came to pick me. They blindfolded me and drove round in circles, all the while while I guessed we were going to 7 Browns Road. We took quite a few minutes to get there. I stay at 6 Browns Road. (Yes they were trying to trick me).

Spent most of the day with Ivie and Val. We were supposed to prepare stuff for Thanksgiving dinner. That included shopping at Ikea, so yay - my first time at Ikea in Melbourne! I like walking around Ikea. Mostly, I like looking at the room displays. It's pretty much the same as the one in Singapore. But the meatballs here suck cos they aren't even round and they were mushy.

12 Nov - Surfing

Val dated me for my birthday and it ended up being a surfing trip to Torquay! Took lessons. Most of the time was spent walking against the tide, trying to get further out into sea. Managed to really properly stand once, for about five seconds. Okay I know that sounds pathetic but that's about the average everyone did ha ha. And it was FUN.

13 Nov - MacBook

Bought my MacBook! Was exciting because I've been wanting to get it for quite awhile, and so anticipation was building up. It was kinda sad that there was no one at home to share my joy when I opened the box. Contemplated showing it to Aunty Lucia (the only person around, then). And I did. But it was quite sad la. Because she doesn't really appreciate stuff like that. So her response was sort of like, "oh, okay". Diong. The screen really is very bright, compared to my old mac.

14 Nov - OCF Thanksgiving dinner

Novotel St Kilda is lousy because they were late. But anyway. That was the last OCF meeting of the year, and generally we enjoyed it. I wore my contact lenses (courtesy of Jingmei haha) and Val put on make-up for me, and apparently I looked quite different. I guess because I wear a t-shirt, jeans and my keds most of the time, anything else looks different :P Even my mom tells me to dress up more and encourages me to shop :D But I guess I am very picky and "shui bian". Then some people will say it's time to grow up (and hence take the effort to dress up).

15 Nov - Surrento

Day out with my UrbanLife aka cell group from Planetshakers City Church. PJ, Mun Yee, Linda, Mei Ching, Bryan, Jimmy and myself went to Sunny Ridge strawberry farm. I'm not much of a fan of strawberries, but because I managed to pick big, super red (ie, sweet) ones, I was happy and ate some. It was quite fun, so I picked a lot, and gave them to the others, and brought some back for Aunty Lucia and Uncle Ollie.

That's Mun Yee and PJ. No, he's not Superman. He is Strawberry Man!

Then we went to the beach. I didn't know we were going, so I was in jeans. Ah. But anyway. We got quite wet. And we had fun feeding the greedy seagulls our leftover lunch of fish and chips.

18 Nov - Chadstone

Day alone at Chadstone Shopping Centre which is the biggest shopping centre in this area. It's about the size of Vivo. Or bigger? Spent half of the time in Borders trying to decide what to spend my voucher on. I can be really picky :D

19 Nov - Surfing

Because it was so good the first time, some of us (and some others) went surfing at Torquay again! My arms are now in three shades. There's the "sleeve line" and the other "line" is at my wrists. Because the wetsuit doesn't cover that. And I was in the sun for more than three hours. So.

20-22 Nov - Wilson's Prom

Hiking/camping trip with Sue Ann, Yasmeen, Voon, Jared, Kang Wei, Joel, Melvin, Marc.

Haha. Now this one is funny. It is the reason why I am currently shuffling, not walking. Basically we hiked 16.4km to our campsite (and another 16.4km back). Some of us were non-experienced campers. And anyway we're not in homeland so we don't have camping gear. So it was quite funny - carrying green Coles bags and hiking.

Spent a day at the campsite where for half the day, half of us "fat cat-ted", staying in the tent playing cards. I learnt to play Bridge. In summary, I rock at Dai-di (however you spell it) muahaha, and I never bid at Bridge. We fished (or rather, everyone else fished while I stayed by the beach because I couldn't climb the rocks due to a bad foot. Which later became one bad foot and one bad leg) and caught some, which we had for dinner.

Our tent was huge. You can stand in it. It was huge enough for us to all be in it, and cook, while it rained outside.

It is never fun to "go toilet" in non-civilisation. There was a "toilet" at the campsite (meaning, a clearing so you can pitch your tents). The "toilet" is a raised up hut in which there is a toilet bowl. Yes, only a toilet bowl. No flush, no water, and all the contents below you as you do your business. Naturally, it smelled a certain way. Spraying the place with Marc's deodorant upon opening the door was a great help.

Apart from some birds and of course leeches and insects, we saw wombats! They are quite cute.

The beach was beautiful (: When I looked out at it, I sorta wished that they built a bridge across it though, so we wouldn't have to walk so much to get to the other end, ha ha. But I guess that's the fun of it - the hiking. Too bad it rained some while we were there, but thank God most of the time it was okay, and the rain only really started to pour heavily at the last hour or so of the trip. And thank God we made it back before dark, and that somehow I managed to walk all the way back, and my leg is only going at "shuffling speed" now (when I'm home).

And more

Yeaps. So that's my post-exams for you.

Next up, road trip up to Adelaide for OCF Convention and AGM via Great Ocean Road.

Then, home (Singapura, oh Singapura, sunny island set in the sea...)

Some people have headed back home already! I skyped a bit recently. With Val, and my brother, just before he left for Brunei for SAF OCF training.

Last random thing - hi Lynette, here's your cow! :D heh.
