Realising God

A Gentle Thunder Max Lucado Once there was a man who dared God to speak. Burn the bush like you did for Moses, God; and I will follow. Collapse the walls like you did for Joshua, God; and I will fight. Still the waves like you did on Galilee, God; and I will listen. And so the man sat by a bush, near a wall, close to the sea and waited for God to speak. And God heard the man, so God answered. He sent fire, not for a bush, but for a church. He brought down a wall, not of brick, but of sin. He stilled a storm, not of the sea, but of a soul. And God waited for the man to respond. And he waited... And he waited... And he waited. But because the man was looking at bushes, not hearts; bricks and not lives; seas and not souls, he decided that God has done nothing. Finally, he looked to God and asked, "Have you lost your power?" And God looked at him and said, "Have you lost your hearing?"

Blackout on the train

There was a blackout on the train yesterday! Well, the blackout happened not to the train, but to me. Har harrr. Basically I was on my way to church alone. At Orchard station my vision suddenly started to go and I felt nausea. Next thing I remember was thinking - I can't close my legs. Turned out - I was sitting on the floor in quite a "chor lor" position. The guy beside me was asking if I was okay; a lady offered her seat which I didn't take because I was getting off soon. The guy helped me off, and my brother who was nearby came to get me. I was perspiring profusely; my shirt was all wet. The guy said I just suddenly fell and started shivering. After that, I rested at YWCA for awhile before taking a taxi home to rest. Whoaaaa. Pretty scary and I'm feeling kinda weak now. But an interesting experience I guess. Thank God it only happened near my stop, and my brother was nearby. You know, I used to think - how come so many people have experi...

Hey look folks! I donated some rice yesterday! Through freerice.com where you play simple games of a topic of choice (eg, vocabulary, geography) and each right answer contributes to a donation of 10 grains of rice! So yups I donated 1780 grains of rice yesterday. - Okay for a brief update of what I've been doing the near 2 months that I haven't blogged, here's some backtracking. And actually, I'm not going to type much because I am... lazy :D OCF AGM Camp; Convention in Tasmania 30 Nov - 6 Dec 2010 Bestest campsite ever in Hobart! It was a camp obviously covered in much prayer and preparation. The speakers, Pastors David Cook and Ron Nguent were the "old school" type who did straightforward teaching from Romans and Corinthians. Me likey. The programme was smooth. The food was yumyumrubstub. The intercenter/interstate fellowship at this convention was so much warmer this year. As for AGM, while people may say sitting at a "long meeting" is ...

And so, it begins.

I'm back! Sorry I haven't blogged for 1.5 months. Been really busy. Am back in Singapore for good now and... will update this space soon :)

Imperfect love, but desiring to love perfectly

My journal entries usually end with a heart shape and: Love, huihui . Sometimes, that varies. For today, it goes like this: Love, love always, love muchly. Imperfect love, but desiring to love perfectly, wholly. Love, huihui

Toilet bowl moments

I reckon some best times of ruminating are done while on the toilet bowl, especially when it is pang sai time (cos it's longer). Think about it. We go through our lives in such a rush, sometimes barely stopping to really wonder, think, dream, ask, seek, be curious... In such times, toilet bowl moments are great. Those are times when you are forced to sit down, with nothing to distract you (unless you choose to reply your sms-es or read a book then). But well, I hope our lives will not be so busy that we will have to rely on "toilet bowl moments" for some reflecting. Though well, I do enjoy my moments too. hurhur. :) *Add: Jian reminds me that showers make good thinking time too. Yes I agree. If not for Australia's water restrictions, I would do this more – sit in the shower, let the water run down, soak . :)
